Microsoft Business Intelligence Day

On October, 30th  2007 in Warsaw took place a Microsoft Conference named „Microsoft Business Intelligence Day”.
The seminar mostly was devoted to the latest solutions in Business Intelligence area.
After worldwide presentation of PerformancePoint Server 2007 (19th Septemper, 2007) this conference was the first official presentation of this product in Poland.
For attendees were prepared two parallel session tracks.
The first track „Microsoft BI – platform and infrastructure” involved sessions about BI functionality   contained in SQL Server 2005 (using SSAS, SSRS, SSIS services and data mining in delivering BI systems). The second track „Client components and BI applications” featured some interesting presentations on the  new BI product Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 and new features coming in MS SQL Server 2008.
During the conference Microsoft Partners showed their latest offering in BI, e.g based on new PerformancePoint Server 2007 platform.
Sessions were presented by polish specialists (from Microsoft) as well as foreign mentors (Kristina Kerr and Davide Mauri).
The whole conference was quite interesting even if there was over 70% percent of business and marketing stuff. Of course it’s very difficult to present a lot of technical deep knowledge of this new products in only one day event. Some of sessions took a form of quick review over new features of PPS 2007. But some of them where really good – in particular session about new functionality of SQL Server 2008 presented by Davide Mauri (SQL Server MVP and Solid Quality Mentor).
This conference was excellent opportunity to meet and swap ideas with very interesting people, specialists and experts in Microsoft technology. In my opinion it could be more about technical details in PerformancePoint Server (not only dozens of slides).
This event devoted to Microsoft BI solutions was the first event I ‘ve been participating in Poland.
And I hope this is a good starting point and the next conferences will be more concentrated on technical areas (not only marketing).
In my photo album I included some photos I have taken on Microsoft BI Day.
